High Efficiency Phosphate Removal Media  

NextReef NR:Phos is a synthetic, multi-purpose phosphate binding agent.  NR:Phos is a high performance, low-dust media that is ideal for aquarium use.

Maintaining low phosphate levels in captive aquatic systems promotes general health and optimal coral growth, while reducing nuisance algae.  NR:Phos is safe for all aquatic systems, and will never re-release absorbed phosphate back into the system.

The special cylindrical shape, large surface area, and consistent particle size of NR:Phos media allows it to flow better and clump less, making NR:Phos a perfect match for our MR1 Media Reactors. 

NR:Phos may also be used with media bags or other media containment systems. 


NR:Phos is made to our specifications in Germany, then tested and packaged by NextReef in the USA.  Unlike many others, NR:Phos media conforms to drinking-water grade standards - giving you superior results, while keeping unwanted contaminants out of your aquarium.

Instructions:  

Marine: add .5 to 1 gram per gallon of net tank water.  

Fresh: add .5 to 1 gram per 2 gallons of net tank water.  

(1/4 cup is approximately 30-40 grams.  Higher concentrations can be used, but may have an adverse effect on alkalinity.)

NR:Phos is recommended for use in the NextReef MR1 Media Reactor, or other fluidized reactors.  This media should be gently fluidized (slight movement at the very top) - aggressive fluidization may break down the media and result in clumping. 

NR:Phos may also be placed in a media bag in a high-flow area of your system.  

Monitor phosphate levels regularly - target phosphate levels below .020 ppm are desirable. 

Many factors can impact the useful lifespan of NR:Phos - including initial phosphate concentration, pH, specific foods and feeding schedules, and the purity of top off water. This media is able to absorb a finite amount of phosphate per gram, and should be replaced accordingly.  NR:Phos should be changed only when fully saturated, as indicated by rising phosphate levels. 

Rinse in RO/DI water (or tank Water) Prior to use.
